Travelling during COVID-19

So, as you guys will know by now from my last two blogs “A wanderluster that can’t wanderlust” and “To travel or not to travel” one of the things I have struggled most with during lock-down is not travelling. Travel is my biggest passion and if I could take 2 holidays a year, each for 6 months I would!

Along with so many others, I had two holidays cancelled during lock-down … a big trip to India and the Maldives and a holiday for my pal’s 40th birthday to Florida, it was bitterly disappointing we were unable to do either. When things started easing up a bit we booked a week to Greece for the beginning of September (which we are still keeping everything crossed for) and then when the travel corridors came into place we thought we would also try and fit in a long weekend to Spain. We booked Marbella and then low and behold, Boris changed his mind again and the 14 day quarantine on arrival back to the UK came into place.

For the two weeks leading up to when we were due to travel we were completely undecided as to whether we would go or not. We were so close to pulling the plug, and then after speaking to a few friends who had recently been, they convinced us that we should do it. BA hadn’t cancelled the holiday and so at very last minute we thought let’s go! Luckily we have understanding employers and are able to work from home now as we are currently self isolating as per the government guidance.

I ran an insta-poll to see if my followers would appreciate an account of the airport experience as I know so many people are nervous about travelling during the current situation, I had a really positive response and so here it is:

(Disclaimer – this is my first vlog, which I basically downloaded from my insta story and had a go at editing video’s with splice so bear with me!)

The whole airport experience truly was excellent and I felt so safe and that they really were taking everything seriously. I hope you found this useful and please do let me know if you have any questions that I can help with. Keep posted for my next Travel blog which will be all about Marbella!

Happy travels.
